The Story Behind Chinese Food Wiki (CFWK)

Welcome to Chinese Food Wiki (CFWK)! This project is a labor of love, born out of a passion for sharing the incredible depth and diversity of Chinese culinary culture with the world.

Our Beginning (April 19, 2017)

CFWK officially began its journey on April 19, 2017. The idea first sparked while I was working at a cycling apparel company. It was there that I met Qing. We quickly realized we shared a common vision: to create a comprehensive, accessible encyclopedia of Chinese food. We dreamed of a resource that could help more people discover, understand, and appreciate the nuances of our cuisine, from regional specialties to historical context and cooking techniques.

We decided to join forces. My role was to build and maintain the website platform, while Qing took on the essential task of researching and writing the initial articles, laying the foundation for the wiki.

Challenges Along the Way

However, as is often the case with passion projects, circumstances change. Over time, Qing gradually moved on to other endeavors, and my role shifted to trying to keep the momentum going. In 2020, determined not to let the vision fade, I invested a significant amount of my own funds into hiring writers to continue expanding the content. Despite this investment and effort, the website didn't grow or gain traction in the way I had desperately hoped. It was a challenging period, and for a while, progress felt stalled.

A New Chapter (May 6, 2025)

Fast forward to today, May 6, 2025. Sitting on my sofa, contemplating the future of CFWK, a thought suddenly struck me: with the incredible advancements in AI translation and content generation, there's a powerful new opportunity! This technology could be the key to efficiently expanding CFWK's reach and content like never before, making it a truly comprehensive resource for a global audience. This feels like a perfect turning point, a chance to revitalize the project with renewed energy and possibilities.
