Turnip Cake (Simplified Chinese: 萝卜糕; Traditional Chinese: 蘿蔔糕; Pinyin: Luóbo gāo; Cantonese: lo bak go) is a savory cake of shredded daikon radish and rice flour, steamed then commonly pan-fried for Dim Sum. Despite the English name, the vegetable is daikon (white radish), not Western turnip.[1]
Characteristics
Interior is soft and savory; pan-fried faces are golden and crisp. Bits of cured meat or mushroom often stud the cake.
